Driving Data Innovation and Financial Clarity
At Ministry of Work, we’re surrounded by members who push boundaries and redefine industries. One such innovator is Adam Marsh, a data consultant and entrepreneur whose expertise spans data analytics and financial technology. With two businesses under his belt, Bee Intelligent and Earnly, Adam is making waves in both the data consultancy and financial information sectors.
Building a Business in Data and Finance
Adam is the founder of Bee Intelligent, a Manchester-based data consultancy that helps businesses harness their data for meaningful insights. Whether it’s optimising existing systems or building new analytics frameworks, his team provides end-to-end data solutions.
Beyond data consultancy, Adam is also developing Earnly, a financial insights platform aimed at self-employed individuals. “It’s designed to give contractors and freelancers real-time insights into their tax liabilities and income,” Adam explains. “Instead of waiting until the end of the tax year, users will have clear visibility on their financial standing at all times.”
The Path to Entrepreneurship
Adam’s journey into consultancy started over a decade ago. After working as a graduate consultant in a startup, he progressed through various roles in data analytics before launching his own business. The idea for Earnly stemmed from managing family finances and realising that no existing platform provided a simple, automated way to track income, tax, and dividends. “I kept thinking, ‘There must be an app for this,’” Adam recalls. “But when I looked, I couldn’t find one that did exactly what I needed—so I decided to build it.”

Overcoming Challenges & Finding the Right Clients
Like many business owners, Adam has faced his fair share of challenges, particularly in securing clients. “Selling data consultancy isn’t like selling a physical product—it’s about selling trust, expertise, and delivering value that isn’t always tangible upfront,” he explains. “Building a network from scratch has been one of the biggest challenges.”
Now, with a growing presence in Manchester and beyond, Adam is looking to focus on financial services and retail – industries where his experience and expertise can have the biggest impact. “Many companies are sitting on a goldmine of data but don’t know how to use it effectively. Whether it’s modernising reporting or implementing AI-driven analytics, we help them unlock real value.”
Lessons Learned and Future Aspirations
Adam’s proudest moment? Taking the leap into self-employment. “It’s a huge step, and you never feel 100% ready”.
“Having the confidence to back yourself is key”
Looking ahead, Adam plans to scale Bee Intelligent and establish Earnly as a leader in financial insights. “I see Earnly growing into a business with 20+ employees within the next year, covering marketing, development, and operations. The feedback so far suggests there’s a real demand for this solution.”
Beyond Work: Racing, Gaming & the Power of Self-Belief
When he’s not immersed in data and finance, Adam is a lifelong Formula One fan—although these days, he watches the highlights rather than the full races. He’s also a keen gamer, having once been on the verge of signing with a professional racing esports team. “If I’d pursued it, I’d probably be retired by now,” he jokes. “Back then, there wasn’t the money in it that there is today.”
As for advice? Adam emphasises the importance of self-belief. “Too many people doubt their own abilities. In the UK especially, we tend to be risk-averse compared to the US. But backing yourself and taking calculated risks is how you create opportunities.”
