The PR Powerhouse Behind Oyster PR & Communications

At Ministry of Work, we’re constantly surrounded by talented professionals carving out their own paths, and Emma Trimble is no exception. As the founder of Oyster PR & Communications, Emma brings years of experience in PR and media relations, helping brands craft compelling narratives and secure high-impact press coverage.

From Law to PR: An Unexpected Journey

Emma’s journey into PR wasn’t exactly planned. In fact, she originally set out to become a solicitor. “I liked the idea of swanning around in court,” she jokes. But after realising law wasn’t the right fit, she moved back home, took a retail job, and crossed paths with someone who introduced her to the world of PR. “I’d never even heard of it,” she admits.

A chance encounter in a Manchester club led to her first work experience in the industry, which quickly turned into a full-time job. From there, Emma’s career took off, working with major brands and eventually leading her to set up her own consultancy.

Big-Name Clients and Unforgettable Projects

Emma’s background is in big-brand consumer PR, particularly within retail, hospitality, and visitor attractions. She’s worked with household names like wilko, Magnet Kitchens, Dr. Oetker, and even launched Madame Tussauds Blackpool.

One particularly memorable project saw her working on Printworks’ relaunch in Manchester, handling media buying, major events, and public engagement. “It was a huge project, but I loved the challenge,” she says. More recently, she played a key role in securing media coverage for a client appearing on Dragon’s Den, a moment she describes as one of her proudest achievements.

Building Oyster PR & Communications

Emma went freelance just over three years ago, stepping away from agency life to build something of her own.

“I wanted the flexibility to work with clients I really believe in and tell their stories in the best way possible”

While she’s worked across various industries, what unites her clients is their passion. “They’re lovely people with great stories to tell,” she explains. Whether it’s securing national press coverage, writing compelling website copy, or providing strategic PR support to agencies, Emma is always focused on delivering results.

Growing a Business and Overcoming Challenges

One of the biggest adjustments has been transitioning from a large team to working independently. “You have to trust your instincts and back yourself,” she says. But she’s also embraced the flexibility of the freelance model, working with a network of trusted freelancers to scale up for bigger projects when needed. “Last year, I had three freelancers supporting me, and that’s how I’d like to continue growing—without necessarily having a full-time team.”

What’s Next for Oyster PR?

Emma’s focus for the next 12-24 months is simple: growth. “I’m at capacity, and I don’t want to expand dramatically, but I’d love to take on more exciting projects and continue working with great people.” She’s also keen to expand her network and collaborate with more businesses that could benefit from her expertise.

Helping MoW Members—and Getting Help in Return

Emma has already been a fantastic resource for the MoW community, regularly sharing press opportunities in the members’ WhatsApp group. But she’s also happy to help with copywriting, branding advice, and marketing strategy. “If anyone needs help writing website copy or refining their brand messaging, I’m more than happy to chat.”

In return, she’s looking to expand her network. “A lot of my business is word of mouth, so just being connected to more people who might need PR support is invaluable.”

Life Outside of Work

When she’s not securing media coverage or crafting the perfect press release, Emma enjoys art classes, gardening, and walking her dog, Dolly. And of course, like many of us, she loves good food, great company, and a nice glass of wine.

Best Advice She’s Ever Received?

“The world is your oyster,” she says – fitting, given her business name. “It’s all about creating your own luck and driving your own success. Whatever you want to do, there’s always an opportunity out there if you go looking for it.”

For anyone looking for PR support, media opportunities, or just a friendly chat about marketing, Emma is always happy to connect. You can find her on LinkedIn, via her website, or in the MoW WhatsApp group.
